Food Typography with the Kansas City Chiefs
Wallpaper Wednesday was well anticipated but hardly delicious before this. I was asked by the reigning Super Bowl Champs to create a downloadable image for devices that captured spirit of Kansas City. If possible, I was to reference the player-led voting initiative that utilized white stars on a yellow background. I was told to go HAM, therefore ribs were a no-brainer.
The Chiefs gave me free reign (and their 50+ page brand guidelines to reference) with the catch phrase “How ‘Bout Those Chiefs?” Since the pandemic has deconstructed football staples like tailgating, this seemed like a perfect concept. Armed with two racks of ribs and a very large tomahawk shaped hamburger, I began creating the many surfaces that tailgated food lives upon. The voter initiative presented itself as a literal easter egg: hard boiled egg stars on a bed of deviled egg yolks. All of these images were available for download, also available below, the epitome of personal fanfare.
